Ierardi et al. (2025) highlighted an important aspect of A. marginale infection: "Despite availability of highly sensitive and specific assays for anti–A. marginale antibodies (competitive ELISA) and A. marginale genetic material (real-time PCR), the interpretation of test results for the diagnosis of clinical anaplasmosis in cattle remains challenging."
