Banyard et al. (preprint) reported on the identification of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b in an ewe. Viral RNA was present in milk samples from the ewe. The authors attributed the infection to proximity to infected poultry and a presumed heavily contaminated environment.
