Wulf et al. (2025, In-press) reviewed dairy cattle housing and management worldwide and its impact on the welfare of calves, young stock and dairy cows. With this information, they developed a concept for an alternative demonstration and research barn, the "future dairy barn" (FDB). "[T]he FDB concept integrated a family herd that avoids regrouping and enables stable social relationships."
